I remember a day when you would buy an appliance and it was good for a long time. I am not talking about the counter top cheapies. I am talking about stoves, refridgerators.....you know the top dollar investments. My fridge went out just a couple of months ago. I had a repairman check it and he told me it was the compressor and this and that so I didn't think it would be worth repairing. It was less than 5 years old. I thought the warranty was still in tact but NO... I happen to have bought the model with the little warranty. That is the fridge story.......
Now I am having a stove/range problem. I have the smooth top variety with a big national name behind it. It also is the drop in type that is very expensive because there is no high back on it so it can sit in an island. Now this stove is less than 5 years old. With 3 working burners! And did I tell you that the self cleaning has only been run once? and now doesn't work! and the manufacturer told me that the "mother board" was gone and it would cost over $500?!!! Well, since it was Father's Day I was having the family over for dinner and I made some very nice brownies for dessert. I set the timer and had them set for the right amount of time. Dinner was finished and it was time for dessert. Had the homemade chocolate sauce ready to put over the brownies and ice cream. I cut in the brownies and they were crispy on the top and YUCK on the bottom. No they were not burnt on the bottom.......they were not cooked on the bottom. I didn't need chocolate sauce, the brownies kinda oooozed.
Aren't appliances suppose to do what they were made to do. Fridges are suppose to stay cold and keep things cold for at least 10 years! And stoves are suppose to cook and bake for years also. I can't remember being a kid and getting new appliances every 5 years! They lasted!
Sorry but I am not a happy appliance owner today. And my brownies are in the garbage where the stove belongs!
